Rescue Story: We were found near a mechanic shop outside of Edmonton, and the kindest couple brought me, my sisters and my mom into their shop to keep us warm through the winter. They brought us into the vet to get fixed, then helped find us a foster home through CCE.
About Me: Hi, I’m Aspen Madera. I’m a short-haired beauty with a quiet heart and a watchful soul.
I might not be the first to pounce or dash across the room like my sister Maple, but trust me—I’m just as curious. I just like to take my time and make sure everything feels safe before I join in. Once I do, you’ll see my playful side peek through—especially when I’ve found a good perch to observe (and maybe sneak-attack!) from above. Although I can be shy, I do still love to play!! Bring out a wand toy, a crinkly ball or a tunnel, and I’m all in.
I’m still working on my confidence around humans, but I’m making big strides every day. I like to sit nearby and watch you go about your day, sometimes with soft, curious eyes that say, “I’m getting there.” I don’t always ask for attention, but I quietly accept it—and with love and patience, I’ll keep blooming. My foster says I have the soul of a loyal companion just waiting to be discovered.
I eat wet and dry food daily (my faves are Fancy Feast, Tiki Cat, and Purina One), and I clean my bowl like a pro. But please don’t free-feed me kibbles—I will eat it all in one go. I’ve got a healthy appetite and zero food regrets.
I’d be happiest in a calmer home with another friendly, playful cat to help me feel confident and show me the ropes. I think I’d be okay with gentle kids or dogs, but a quieter household would be ideal for helping me continue to come out of my shell.
