Rescue Story: I was trapped by a citizen and brought to Animal Care & Control in the spring. I was terrified of people, making me ineligible for general adoption. I had really awful teeth & a runny eye however so I didn’t qualify for a barn home either. CCE was contacted because the shelter staff know that they have a soft spot for kitties like me that need help! I needed 20 teeth extracted & an eye surgery. I have recovered well and learned to trust people so I am now ready for my furrever home!
About Me: Hi I’m Herschel! I’m a big, purr-fectly gentle boy. At first, I might seem a bit shy and hide away, but don’t worry! Once I get comfortable in my new home, I’ll be the most affectionate guy around and love meeting new people.
I’m a bit of a chatterbox, especially when it’s mealtime. I might meow and purr to let you know I’m ready for meals. Please don’t free-feed me, though. I love my food too much and might get a little carried away!
I’m a pretty chill guy who enjoys a good nap on your lap. I haven’t shown much interest in playing yet and I might need a little encouragement to see how fun it can be. If you’re patient and take the time to teach me how to play, we can have a blast together.
I haven’t met many other kitties or doggies yet, so I’d probably prefer to be the only pet in my new home. I’m still working on being brave around new people, but I’m getting better every day. A home without young kids would likely be best as I can sometimes be scared by fast movements.
I hope I can find a forever home where I can be loved and cared for. I promise I’ll reward you with the best cuddles in the world. I might need a little extra patience at first as I settle into my new home, but I promise it’ll be worth it.
I am currently eating a grain-free dry and wet food diet and we would need to continue this in my new home. My coat also requires regular brushing to keep me healthy and looking handsome.
