Rescue Story: We were found near a mechanic shop outside of Edmonton, and the kindest couple brought me, my sisters and my mom into their shop to keep us warm through the winter. They brought us into the vet to get fixed, then helped find us a foster home through CCE.
About Me: Hi there, I’m Maple Madera! I’m a sleek little short-haired gal with the most gorgeous eyes, and a huge love for treats, toys, and adventure.
I take a little time to warm up to new people—trust isn’t built in a day, after all—but once I feel safe, you’ll see my fun and feisty personality come to life. I’m a confident little explorer who loves to be in the middle of the action. I’ll beg for treats, chase toys like a pro, and sneak into places I probably shouldn’t be (closet? conquered. laundry basket? claimed). I’m great at using scratching posts, and I like both horizontal and vertical ones.
While I’m not quite a snuggly lap cat yet, I do enjoy affection once I know you. Head scratches? Yes, please. Gentle pets? Love ‘em. Just don’t try to scoop me up too quick—I prefer my love with two paws on the ground. Maybe I’ll grow into a full-on cuddlebug one day, but for now, I’m a “pets and admiration only” kind of girl.
I eat both wet and dry food—currently devouring Fancy Feast, Tiki Cat, and Purina One like a champ. But don’t free-feed me dry kibble—I will inhale it. Let’s keep me on a meal plan so I stay healthy and happy.
I’d thrive in a home with another playful cat buddy and people who are patient and kind as I continue to grow. I haven’t met any dogs or kids yet, but I think I could adjust with time and a gentle intro. My sister Aspen and I play well together, but we’re not a bonded pair—I’m confident and independent enough to strike out on my own.
